Professor Peter Komisarczuk

Teaching or Work Interests

Peter researches, lectures and consults in the area of networks, security and distributed systems. He has published in the areas of security, telecommunications, broadband networking, Next Generation Networks, cognitive radio and Grid/cloud computing. His current research is in Internet security (in particular honeyclient systems), the Internet, Cognitive Radio. He is a member of the Centre for Networks and Distributed Systems.

Peter has worked for Ericsson, Fujitsu and Nortel Networks in the areas of next generation "intelligent networks", access and optical networks and Internet technology. He has a PhD from the University of Surrey (1998) and an MSc in Modern Electronics from Nottingham University (1984). He is a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng), a member of the IET, IEEE, BCS and the NZCS. He became a Information Technology Certified Professional (ITCP) in 2009 and Fellow of the NZCS in 2010.


Research Interests

Peter is is working with colleagues Dr John Moore, Dr Wei Jie, Dr Nasser Matoorian, and Dr Renato Amorim (Glyndwr University), Dr Ian Welch (Victoria University of Wellington), research assistants Jiva Bagale, Antonio Dariush and PhD students Mohammad Puttarroo.

The groups expertise covers embedded and mobile systems through to Grid and Cloud computing and works closely with the UWL Centre for Model Driven Software Engineering (around context awareness and mobile devices) and with the Centre for Internationalisation and Usability (on mobile learning). The centre has interest in the following areas:
* The Internet, Internet security (especially honeyclient systems), network protocols and network architecture.
* Cognitive radio/networks and protocols, Pervasive/Ubiquitous systems, the "Internet of Things" embedded devices and mobile learning.
* Grid/Cloud computing and e-science/e-research, middleware/applications, Security technologies associated with Grid/Cloud computing.
